THE FAST TRACKER WONDERS IF THERE’LL BE THAT MUCH MAGIC AROUND TODAY.
After the beating so many “good things” took on Wednesday- Ocean Roar, Bullish Boy, Golden Harvest, Twin Turbo, Ho In One, Sichuan Vigour and Redwood Baby- this really isn’t the season to back hot pots, and even if the return to racing of Magic Moreira will ensure that a few odds-on pops will win today, others could very easily get beaten.
Why? The weather, many horses like Redwood Baby being overrated and starting way below the odds and, too often, reading and listening to tips instead of going with one’s gut instincts with only yourself for that.
Good grief, STOP with ALL these on-course tips ‘cos, apart from the call of a race- NO ONE IS LISTENING- especially on those Happy Wednesdays where all the chit chat about this and that horse should be broadcast only to television audiences at home or at Off-Course Betting Centres.
On-course, it’s just clutter and breaking more sound ordinances than any ‘live’ music- and is very much like what music fans do today: Watch MTV with the Mute button on.
As for today, these mixed and often mixed up meetings with those dreaded all-bother races thrown in make a mockery of form.
So, just take what anyone “tips”- and I am no “tipster”, but more to do with personal thoughts based on riding engagements- on board with a grain of salt- if you take them on board at all- and, as in life, lead with your gut.
Hey, it’s not life or death or self-realization or knowing It’s Only Rock’N Roll with the Stones at the Venetian tonight.
It’s only horse racing.
R1 GOLDEN OSMANTHUS/RECORD AGAIN/GORGEOUS LIFE/AFRICA LIGHT
A Class 5 race and it really depends on whose day it is to win one of these where I really don’t understand how an owner makes any money when one adds up the costs of upkeep, the purchase for the horse, the various slings if and when it wins- and the cost of face of owning a loser.
This is a race to watch or buy a 2×1 quinella place roll up with Race 2 so there’s something to do other than attacking the buffet table before someone else wipes out all the sushi, sashimi and the oysters.
R2 WHISTLE BLOWER/REAL FIT/REGENCY HO HO/GENEROUS BOBO
Whistle Blower and Real Fit are drawn on the right side of the track for this Class 4 1000m sprint. If not, I’d go with Regency Ho Ho, but being drawn barrier 1 makes its chances remote- unless it’s the Usain Bolt of racing.
R3 SUISSE D’OR/MALECHOR GOLD/CRUISE CONTROL/INFINITE COURAGE
Tougher than winning the Mark Six but I DO like Infinite Courage at the weights.
R4 STAR OF WAI BO/MAROON PRINCE/JOY TOGETHER/CONFUCIUS ELITE
Looks like being another winner for The Magic Man with Star Of Wai Bo.
R5 CHINA/DELIGHT/SUPERKING DRAGON/WINNAM/FLYING IBIS
A pretty weak race and where China Delight stands out for me whereas though up a class, Superking Dragon might still have more upside.
R6 GRACEFUL KINGDOM
Neil Callan has settled in well to Hong Kong racing, knows this horse and is doing a great deal of riding for trainer Ricky Yiu who is no fool.
R7 D’HERE’S THE LOVE/RHUMBA KING/DANEWIN TIGER
Rhumba King saves itself for these All-Weather races and it’s interesting that Dougie Whyte has jumped on it though Moreira on D’Here’s The Love looks the one to beat.
R8 DIVINE TEN/ROMAN SOLDIER
Another winner for Joao Moreira in Divine Ten though a Roman Soldier might get in the way.
R9 MY LITTLE FRIEND/PURE FORCE/SUPER ABUNDANTE/SKY MAN
Could be far more competitive than one might think.
R10 MIRAGE/WAH MAY STAR/SELKIRK STAR
Looking forward to finally seeing this John Size first-starter- Mirage.

SELECTIONS FROM THE BIG APPLE (@SW064351)
Race 10, No. 5 Wah May Star
Should find the front again and take plenty of catching.
Race 9, No. 7 Pure Force
Very honest and looks close to another win. Rates highly.
Race 8, No. 6 Charity Spirit
Racing well and should get an ideal run just behind the leaders. Each-way.
Race 7, No. 6 Turin Pearl
Has poor barrier manners and is drawn awkwardly. Under the odds.
4,7,10,12 / 6,7,8 / 5,7 / 2,5,6,10. $50 for 52.08%.
