“After arriving on course Mr B Scott, trainer of Verification, notified the RV veterinary surgeon Dr J McCaffrey that in his view Verification had put its head into a handbag which was in its tie up stall and grabbed a blister packet of panadol. Mr Scott further added that he noticed shortly after this that a tablet was in the mouth of the gelding and he was not sure how much Verification had ingested. Evidence was tendered by Dr McCaffrey and on the evidence Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that Verification would race medication free and therefore withdrew the gelding at 5.51pm.
